We are able to offer support to families who have a baby born from 24 weeks gestation who has a life threatening condition or who has sadly died. We can also offer support to a family who have been given a life limiting prognosis for their baby during the ante-natal period. Our experienced neonatal link nurse works closely with the neonatal and midwifery units within the catchment areas of both Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith.
Anyone can refer a baby to Hope House Children's Hospices whether they are a doctor, other health care professional or family member. All we ask is that the baby’s parents or person with parental responsibility agree to the referral and that they are aware of our criteria.
For some parents it maybe the right choice to stay in hospital, having built up relationships and trust with the highly skilled staff. However, this doesn’t exclude a referral to Hope House or Tŷ Gobaith as we are able to offer support to parents and siblings in partnership with the neonatal staff.
The baby and their family can be supported in the most appropriate setting for them, be it within their own home, at the hospice or in the hospital. Each situation will be unique to each family and we will endeavour to support their wishes accordingly.
Referrals to Hope House or Tŷ Gobaith can be made by contacting Tŷ Gobaith on 01492 651 900 or Hope House on 01691 671 999.
