What is a Snowflake Tribute Fund?

When people lose a loved one, they often feel they would like to do something special to remember them and celebrate the life they lived.A Snowflake Tribute fund is a lasting memorial to a loved one that also helps us to make the most of the short and precious lives of terminally ill children.

A fund is quick and easy to set up and it means that anyone- family, friends or colleagues- can make a contribution in whatever way they might wish, for instance, taking part in a sponsored challenge, holding a coffee morning, or simply making a gift on a memorable date for example a birthday or anniversary. You will be able to check the progress of your tribute fund online at any time. Each gift will act as a tribute to the person in whose honour the Fund has been created, and will enable Hope House Children;s Hospices to provide vital care and support to terminally ill children and their families, through respite and terminal care at our two Hospices and at home, and counselling for the entire family for as long as needed.

Growing your Snowflake Tribute Fund?

There are many ways that family, friends and colleagues can choose to mark the life of a loved one including

  • Making gifts on special days - We understand that special days like birthdays, Christmas and anniversaries can be particularly difficult for family and friends. Your Snowflake Tribute Fund gives everyone the opportunity to remember loved ones by sharing memories, photos as well as lighting a candle or making a donation to celebrate their life.
  • Do a sponsored activity - If the memory of your loved one inspires you to do something out of the ordinary why not get yourself sponsored for a silence, swim or diet, or take part in a local fn run, the London Marathon, or even climb a mountain! The options are endless. If you want to meet like minded people and participate in a Hope House Children's Hospices event, for example the Santa Run, the Snowman Shuffle, Corporate Challenges, abseils or Zipslides then just check out the website or contact fundraising@hopehouse.org.uk for more information on events happening near you.
  • Hold an event - Julia and Jeff Jones set up Harry's Helpers after their son Harry died suddenly aged just four and a half years old and have organised many events in his memory. From a fund day to a football tournament they have found that it has helped them focus on Harry during this difficult time. Fundraising events can be as small as a coffee morning or as large as a ball and all proceeds will continue celebrating the life of your loved one. The fundraising office will sbe happy to support you whatever event you choose!
  • Set up a standing order direct into your Snowflake Tribute Fund - We rely on regular income to be able to plan for the future and ensure that we can meet the needs of children and families for years to come. By making regular payments, no matter how small, you can help ensure we will always be here for them.
