Gift Aid is a scheme run by the UK Government whereby if you are a UK taxpayer and you donate money to us we can claim tax you have already paid on the amount of the donation.
This means we get up to an extra 25p for every £1 you donate to us - and it costs you nothing!
All you need to do is fill in a simple Gift Aid declaration
There are rules that must be followed. For instance, we can only claim on your donations if you are a UK taxpayer and if you are donating in your own right. You must also have paid enough income tax or capital gains tax in the past year to cover the amount we claim.
We cannot claim Gift Aid on donations you have made and received something in return i.e. tickets for an event. We also cannot claim Gift Aid on donations left in a Will.
For full details about what can and cannot be Gift Aided please go to: www.hmrc.gov.uk/charities/gift_aid/basics.htm
Our official sponsor forms are set up so that people can Gift Aid the money they are giving you so it is really worth making sure that they tick the Gift Aid box and fill in their postcode. If you use a Just Giving page to fundraise, Gift Aid is claimed automatically through the website.
