The Lifelites charity has donated a package of amazing technology to Tŷ Gobaith which will give all the visiting children an opportunity to have fun and experiment with creativity, control and communication.

The equipment includes an Eyegaze, which enables children to operate computers using their eye movement, and a Mobile Magic Carpet, which projects an interactive moving image of everything from swimming fish to autumn leaves onto a mat which can be put on the floor, or on a bed or wheelchair.

There is also a special headset that helps give children the visual experience of flying like an eagle above different cityscapes and countries.

Hope House received the same package last year, and both packages came with specialist training for the Care Team. After four years Lifelites will update the packages.

Our Tŷ Gobaith Head of Care Angharad Davies said: “Technology is a fantastic way for children and young people with disabilities to engage in all sorts of activities they might otherwise find a challenge, whether that is splashing in a virtual reality sea thanks to the Magic Carpet, or using the Eyegaze to control a computer.

"All of the new equipment is guaranteed to get plenty of use at Tŷ Gobaith and we are certain that the children will absolutely love it.”

Simone Enefer-Doy, Chief Executive of Lifelites, said: “We’re delighted to be able to donate some of our magical technology for the children and young people at Tŷ Gobaith. The huge range of equipment is specially adapted so that it can be used by anyone, regardless of their disability. Every moment is precious for these children and their families, and this technology will give them the opportunities they deserve to make the most of whatever time they have left."

Thank you to the supporters who funded the Lifelites package including the Mark Benevolent Fund, the Provincial Grand Lodge of North Wales, the Culra Charitable Trust, the Ethel & Gwynne Morgan Charitable Trust, GamesAid and Microsoft
