Hope House is delighted to have been chosen as one of four local charities to benefit from a virtual fundraising event led by Shrewsbury Town Football Club.

Move as One will see supporters walk, run or cycle individually throughout March with the aim of adding all their mileage together. The goal is to hit a collective total of 2788 miles - the distance from Shrewsbury Town's Montgomery Waters Meadow home ground to each one of the stadiums in the English Football League One.

“As a direct result of COVID-19, many local charities have missed out on thousands of pounds, normally generated through local fundraising,” said a club spokesman.

“This will affect each charity in the long term and prevent them from delivering the vital support and work they regularly provide.

“Move as One aims to provide much needed funds to four very worthwhile and local causes: Hope House Children’s Hospices, Shrewsbury Town in the Community, Little Rascals Foundation and SAHA Football Club.”

Anyone can sign up for the event online, and you simply complete your runs, cycle rides or walks throughout June and log them on Strava or equivalent sports recording apps. You send your results to Shrewsbury Town in the Community ([email protected]) who will add them to the group total.

For more competitive participants there will also be leader-boards showing the individuals and teams who have gone the furthest over the month.

You can sign up today at https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/move-as-one-challenge?tk=4970d11441767eaa210e5dd5de582aa85ac6770d with a suggested donation of £10 per individual or £20 per team.

All proceeds will be divided equally between the four charities.
