Last year when Alan Lewis of Adrenaline Events started to plan the first ever Welshpool 10k race no one could have anticipated what was to come.

The event, which had 800 runners signed up, was due to take place on March 29th. With fears for public safety growing amid an increasing number of Coronavirus cases in the UK, Alan was left with no alternative but to cancel his race.

Alan sent each of the entrants a medal and goodie bag, and then wondered what to do with his 100 leftover medals, which featured the iconic Powis Castle. Then he had a bright idea!

He contacted our Fundraising Team at Hope House and generously offered to donate the 100 medals and goodie bags for the team to host a Virtual Powis 10k.

Sold out

Incredibly this virtual event sold out in less than 4 days, attracting runners from all over the country and even the World! The team were delighted when two young ladies from South Korea signed up because they thought the Powis Castle medal looked like Harry Potter’s Hogwarts.

To date the virtual event has raised over £5000, which has inspired us to launch our next special lockdown Virtual 10K complete with a bespoke medal. They too are being snapped up fast, so if you don’t want to miss out sign up today!
