In order that Hope House children’s hospice at Oswestry can continue to ensure that children affected by conditions so serious that they’re not expected to live longer than early adulthood, enjoy together with their families, the best possible quality of life- with access to specialist care and bereavement support, when and where they need it, we must raise £6.5 million each year.

To help us achieve this, we are looking for self-motivated and reliable local volunteers to take responsibility for finding new locations in Crewe & Nantwich, Bala, Holywell & Flint, Shrewsbury, Welshpool, Newtown, Shifnal & Newport for Hope House collection boxes and for collecting and replacing full boxes. You will be asked to complete straight forward paperwork as a record of boxes distributed and collected and full boxes will be picked up from you by your Area Fundraiser.

Is this role flexible?

When you carry out the role is entirely up to you. All we ask is that boxes are checked and collected on a regular and timely basis and you keep closely in touch with your Area Fundraiser.

Skills required:

We are looking for volunteers who are friendly, outgoing and able to talk to all types of people. You should have lots of common sense, be able to follow instructions and to use your initiative as necessary. You must be self-motivated and prepared to learn about the work of Hope House Children’s Hospices in order to communicate our aims in local establishments.

Support offered:

You will be working closely with your Area Fundraiser, who will support you and be your main point of contact. We also have a Volunteering team at the Hospice, who can help you, if need be. Please tell us if there is anything extra we can do to make it easier for you to volunteer and we will do our best to help.

Training provided:

The Area Fundraiser will meet with you to introduce you to the charity and to explain the role in detail. They will cover the co-ordination procedures and paperwork, ensuring you are confident that you know what is expected from the role before you get started. You will receive our volunteer newsletter, ‘The Inside Story’, giving you a picture of what happens in the hospices and stories you can share with collection box hosts and a Volunteer Welcome Pack that outlines our volunteering policies, procedures and expectations.

Age requirements: 18+
