We are looking for enthusiastic sales assistants to join our shops in Bangor, Bridgnorth, Church Stretton, Denbigh, Llandudno, Ludlow, Nantwich, Oswestry, Shrewsbury and Wrexham.
 
Are you aged between 16 and 24 and a Universal Credit claimant, then you could join us in one of our roles which will give you valuable and meaningful experience.
 
Our sales assistant roles are varied and interesting where no two days will be the same, so if you have an eye for fashion, books, gaming or collectables this could be just for you?

Hope House Children’s Hospices are a charity that cares for children with serious conditions who aren’t expected to live longer than early adulthood.  We help them enjoy the best possible quality of life and be as comfortable, happy and fulfilled as they can.  We support their parents and families too, who often find it hard to cope.  All our services are free, but to carry on funding them we need to raise over £6.5 million every year - almost all of it through the local community.

We are on an exciting journey to increase our annual net contribution from our retail business to £1,000,000 a year by 2025, enabling us to reach every child and family who need us. So we now have opportunities across some of our shops for Sales Assistants; this 6-month placement is ideal if you are a college leaver, graduate or someone looking to get back into the world of work. This role will provide opportunity for you to gain meaningful work experience, learn new skills and improve your prospects of going on to find work and most of all, your contribution will make a real difference to the children and families that use our services.

The main responsibilities of this role will be about providing the best customer experience to our shoppers and donors, representing the charity on the high street and being part of a great team.

We are here to support you on your placement and work with you to help you achieve your goals. You will have an induction plan where we will share our vision as an organisation as well as listen to your hopes, goals and aspirations. We are offering a comprehensive step by step training and mentoring programme to develop your employability skills, this includes on the job mentoring, job application and interview skills, confidence building, customer service and team work.

What skills you can expect to learn from us?

  • Teamwork: you will learn how to work as part of a team fostering a culture that sees you pulling together in busy periods, learn how to deal with common retail situations and resolve customer queries whilst offering great customer service.

  • Problem Solving: here you will learn how to deal and manage various retail situations to help customers resolve their problems quickly and professionally.
  • Self-Belief in Retail Skills: this is all about you and how you keep motivated, always presenting a positive attitude to your work, colleagues, manager and customers. This is about your willingness to learn new things, work on what you are interested in and ask to take on responsibilities.
