Our Ambition

Our Vision

To ensure that children affected by conditions so serious that they’re not expected to live longer than early adulthood enjoy together with their families the best possible quality of life - with access to specialist care and bereavement support, when and where they need it.

Our Purpose

As a charity committed to supporting young people and their families in Shropshire, Cheshire, Mid and North Wales, we are here to help them be as comfortable, happy and fulfilled as they can be by providing:

  • Specialist nursing and palliative care at home, in the community, at Hope House and at Tŷ Gobaith;
  • Emotional and practical help to parents and other family members;
  • Bereavement support and specialist counselling to any family after the death of their child, whether they have previously used our services or not.

Our Aims

  • To be a Centre of Excellence for children's palliative care, widely sharing our skills, knowledge and experience.
  • Children and young adults have access to specialist nursing and palliative care services at the end of their lives at the place of their choice.
  • To provide bereavement support and specialist counselling to any family after the death of their child - whether or not we have previously cared for them.
  • Brothers and sisters of children not expected to live longer than early adulthood have access to a programme of support.
  • Young adults not expected to live beyond the age of 25 have access to care and support that best meets their needs and is appropriate for their age.
  • A family's community of support are skilled, empowered and engaged in helping the family to enjoy the best quality of life.

Our Approach

We always aim to:

  • Put the needs of the child and their family at the heart of everything we do;
  • Provide fair and equitable access to our services for everyone - regardless of their ethnicity, social or economic services;
  • Deliver effective services as responsively as we can;
  • Raise sufficient funds and use them carefully to benefit the children and families we care for;
  • Value and recognise the contribution of all who work with us to improve the quality of life for children and their families - our employees, volunteers, supporters and partners;
  • Be open and transparent in our business and activities, while protecting the rights of children and families to privacy at all times.

Our Fundraising Ambition:

No one should face the death of a child alone.

Three children die locally every week. Sadly we can currently only afford to help one in every three.

Our ambition is increase our annual fundraising income by £2.5 million a year to £9 million and reach every child and family who needs us.
