FAQs & Resources Where can I download your logos? Hope House Logo Ty Gobaith Logo Combined HH/TG Logo When did Hope House Children's Hospices first open? Our first hospice - Hope House in Oswestry - opened in 1995 and our second hospice - Tŷ Gobaith in Conwy - in 2004. What do you do? In a nutshell, Hope House Children's Hospices provide specialist nursing care and support to more than 750 children aged 0 to 25 years and their families who live in Shropshire, Cheshire, North and Mid Wales. We provide respite care in our two hospices and in the families' own homes. The impact of caring for a child with a life-threatening condition affects the whole family. Our help enables families to take a much needed short break from their round-the-clock caring routine. We offer bereavement services to families whose children use the hospices, but also any family in our area whose child has died in any circumstance. Our Snowflake Suites are special places where families can say goodbye in their own time and in their own way. They comprise a temperature controlled bedroom, and a private lounge and garden. Counselling is available to families who use the hospice, and also to any local family who has suffered the death of their child in any circumstance. We also provide support for brothers and sisters enabling them to share their feelings and worries. Who funds your work? Statutory funding pays on average just one month's running costs every year. For the other 11 months we are completely dependent on donations from our supporters to keep our doors open and our services running. No charge is ever made to families. How much does it cost to run Hope House Children's Hospices? It costs more than £6.5 million every year to provide all our current services. However, three children die every week in the area we cover and we can currently only afford to help one family in three. We have set ourselves the challenge of raising an additional £2.5 million a year by 2025 to ensure we can afford to help every family who needs us. To ensure no one faces the death of their child alone. How many people work at Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith? We employ more than 260 people who all play a part in helping deliver our services to children and families.
