A team of hikers from Wrexham have raised more than £6,000 to support us.

The team of 13, who work together at Clwyd Compounders Ltd and are part of the walking group ‘Clwyd Climbers’, conquered the national Three Peaks Challenge recently to raise money.

One of the hikers, Chris Davies, said “This is the first time any of us have tackled a challenge this big.

“We felt strongly that we should do this to raise money for Hope House. Most of us are parents and it’s a cause that’s very close to us.”

The challenge saw the group tackle a 23-mile hike up and down Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon which they completed in a record time of 22 hours and 30 minutes.

Chris continued: It warms our hearts that we can raise money for such a great charity.

“The feeling is just fantastic being able to do our bit and present a cheque that will help local children and families.

“We all agree that this is the start of something and we want to do even more in the future and continue to raise money to help the children.”

Incredible

Our fundraiser, Cat, said: “The Clwyd Climbers team is absolutely incredible.

“The Three Peaks is a seriously tough challenge to complete and doing it within 24 hours is an added pressure. We invited some of the team to come to Hope House before the challenge to see first-hand the impact their steps will make to local families and we were really taken with their commitment to help.

“Over 69 families within Wrexham come to Hope House for respite care and end of life support and our care team rely on our local community to step up and raise funds so that every child with a life threatening condition receives the help they so desperately need.

“We cannot thank the team enough for wanting to put themselves through such a feat and look forward to welcoming the full team to the hospice in due course. Hats off to Chris, Craig, Chris, Carl, Morgan, Gavin, Cameron, Declan, Ieuan, Geraint, Gareth, Ruwan and Ian for raising so much money for our wonderful hospices.”
