A Powys family’s community party, in memory of their son Ronnie, has raised more than £2,500 to support families like them.

The family fun day, which is now in its third year, was a bumper day and evening of family fun and entertainment, at Seasons Café, in Caersws, near Newtown.

Showers failed to dampen spirits at the event which was a celebration of the life of their son Ronnie, who died at just 15 months old. The action-packed day featured fun fair rides, exotic animals, stalls galore, dancing, an ABBA tribute band, choir, and bands.

Organiser and Mum Alice jones thanked everyone who took part, from businesses and individuals who supported them, to the many visitors who they welcomed on the day.

Alice said: “We’d like to thank everyone that was involved, for making the day exactly what we imagined. To all our sponsors, especially G Owens for their trailers and William plant hire for the generator, to all our stall holders and entertainment, our family and Seasons Cafe for all their help. We couldn't have pulled it off without every individual person who helped and went out of their way. Thank you to everyone for helping us celebrate our beautiful boy, Ron's 4th birthday.”

For Alice and Lewis Jones, along with children Dougie, aged two and a half, and Mina, aged 18 months, it was a special day to celebrate what would have been the fourth birthday of son and brother Ronnie.

Ronnie was born with complex needs and received care at Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith children’s hospices until he passed away aged 15 months in November 2021.

Fundraiser Bekki Fardoe thanked the Jones family for all their hard work to organise such an amazing day and raise money to care for children with life-threatening conditions and their families.

She said: “Thank you to Alice and Lewis for all their hard work putting on the third Party at Ronnie Street. Rain certainly didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits, and a fabulous time was had by all. Altogether, their fun days have already raised more than £22,000 to support children with life-threatening conditions and their families. Thank you so much Team Raise4Ron."
