A running Reverend is taking on a tough half marathon to raise funds for our hospices.

David Parry, the vicar and leader of Bro Celynnin parish will tackle the Conwy Half Marathon on Sunday 20th November in aid of Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith, which sits just a stone’s throw away from St Mary’s church in Caerhun, Conwy where he regularly preaches.

Keen runner, David said: “Like the church, the hospice is very much rooted in the community here and I know we have parishioners who volunteer to help them.

“We really wanted to do something to support the hospice and the amazing care they give to local children and families.

Filled with joy

“Having the privilege to be a vicar, I see and hear first-hand in the community how much good work they do, and how it is really filled with joy.”

With around eight weeks to go until the event, David has begun his preparations.

“Training is well underway,” he said.

“The route passes around the Great Orme in Llandudno and I am excited to see across the water to Puffin Island, a view that never fails to inspire.”

On the benefits of running to his life and work, David said: “I find running a great way to clear my mind or even to generate thoughts and ideas for my sermons.

“I’m really looking forward to the challenge and hope that people will be able to donate whatever they can to the cause.”
