Caring students from the University of Chester are showing some love for our hospices this Valentine's week.

The group of four from the Events Management and Marketing courses are hosting a fun scavenger hunt around the Roman city over the week 9th – 16th February in which participants will explore the streets and heritage whilst searching out specially branded hearts hidden in shop windows.

Hidden hearts

The team, Troop Events, will be donating entry fees to our hospices and will enter all finishers into a prize draw to win some great prizes.

The family and pet-friendly event is run through the mobile app Goosechase and participants will be sent clues to find 14 special Hope House hearts hidden in independent shop windows around the city.

Speaking for the group, Courtney Harris of Prestatyn, said: “I’ve had a family connection with hospices, so when setting up this event for our coursework, we knew we wanted to support Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith.

“We’re running the event over a week so people can complete it at their leisure.

“Local businesses such as Breakout Room, Deva Roman Experience, Cozy Club and Snugburys have all been very generous in donating prizes for our scavengers.”

Carlotta Villa, Team Leader of Troop Events, said: “We are looking forward to raising money for Hope House Tŷ Gobaith, whose mission is so vital.

“We are really excited to host the Valentine’s Hunt in Chester city centre and are hoping to generate a lively and buzzing atmosphere. It offers a fun and different way to explore the city, and at the same time, the opportunity to highlight such an important cause.”

Great effort

Our Chester area fundraiser Nicola Eyes, said: “We are thrilled that the team from the University of Chester is creating this event and raising money to support local seriously ill children who attend Hope House children’s hospices.

“I know first-hand how difficult organising this type of event is and the effort and attention to detail has been incredible.

“I hope the community get behind them and support their Valentine’s trail around the city centre.”
