Winging their way to an incredible total An annual wing walk has gone up and over £100,000 in total to support local children living with a life-threatening condition. On July 23rd at RFC Rendcomb in Cirencester, Anthony Watts and his wife Vanessa will welcome a team of seven brave souls who will be whizzed through the air at 140mp on top of a 1940s Boeing Stearman aeroplane. Over the past four events, they have raised an incredible £101,000 for our hospices. Anthony shared: “It’s going to be another incredibly moving day. “It’s a whole journey for people as they battle their nerves but continue to do brilliant things in their community to fundraise for the hospices. “The day is more than just a wing walk. There will be great food and even some live music from the Jive Aces.” Taking part in the wing walk is frontman of the Jive Aces, Ian Clarkson. The Jive Aces reached the semi-final of Britain’s Got Talent and famously put a smile on the usually grumpy face of Simon Cowell. Also taking part is hospice fundraiser, Harriet Richards, whose niece, Amelia had received care and respite at Hope House: “Anthony and Vanessa do so much for so many, and this event is no exception,” said Harriet. “We are already at a brilliant £13,000 which will provide so many respite stays, physiotherapy and expert nursing care to children at our hospices. “We’re so grateful to everybody who is taking and has previously taken part. Without you we would not be able to fulfil our mission of giving every local child with a life-threatening condition and their family, access to professional care and improve their quality of life from the point of diagnosis. “Thank you.” The flights are run by AeroSuperbatics and the day will be running from 9.30am to 3.30pm.
